Here, where Lynn Cove and Webb Cove Roads spill down the mountain to form an intersection with Beaverdam Road, something fresh is happening.
A new art gallery, open July 11, 2009, will exhibit the energetic and inspired work of nine local artists, most of whom grew up or settled down along the curves and coves of the surrounding Beaverdam community.
Where neighborhood kids once showed up to buy milk and baking soda, the small grocery at the intersection will officially give way to art. Its new use follows that of George Handy, who had earlier converted the space to a workshop and ceramics showroom. It remains the only commercially zoned property in the valley.
Beaverdam residents Adelaide Key and Maggie Smith inspired and directed the building’s most recent makeover.
Operating hours are: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm and by appointment.
